In Loving Memory of Johnny Calhoune Jr.
Born on September 23, 1993, at West Paces Ferry Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Johnny Calhoune Jr. was the beloved son of Johnny Calhoune Sr. and Bayah Famata Calhoune. From a young age, Johnny displayed a passion for life, a deep love for his family, and a resilience that would define his journey.
Johnny graduated from Newton High School, where he was a standout both academically and athletically. A gifted football player, Johnny’s strength, discipline, and leadership shined on the field. His passion for the sport went beyond competition—it reflected his values of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.
He continued his education at Dakota College at Bottineau, earning his Associate of Science degree, and later obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia, achieving a goal that required both determination and grit. Professionally, Johnny pursued a career in healthcare, working as a Histology Technician at Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
He was proud of his role in helping patients behind the scenes—meticulous, dependable, and devoted to his work. He often spoke of his ambitions in the medical field and took pride in being a part of a team that made a difference every day.
Above all else, Johnny’s heart was rooted in family. He had a powerful bond with his parents and a deep love and respect for his siblings, whom he often uplifted, guided, and protected. He was a loyal brother, a doting uncle, and a reliable source of wisdom, humor, and comfort. His nephews, in particular, looked up to him as a mentor and role model, and he poured himself into helping shape their paths. Johnny was known for his infectious laughter, his sense of humor that could light up a room, and his unforgettable catchphrases—especially “Make it make sense” and “Slow down.” These phrases weren’t just words; they were expressions of his thoughtful, insightful, and grounded view of the world. Johnny was the kind of person who made people feel seen, heard, and loved.
His life was a testimony to perseverance. No matter the obstacle, Johnny met it with determination and quiet strength. Whether it was academic, professional, or personal, he faced every challenge with grace and courage, often carrying the weight of others while never showing strain.

He leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of love, loyalty, and resilience. He inspired everyone who crossed his path—family, friends, coworkers, and teammates alike. His presence was magnetic, his compassion unmatched, and his heart vast.
Johnny Calhoune Jr. will be remembered not only for what he achieved, but for who he was: a faithful son, a proud brother, a loyal friend, a gifted athlete, a devoted uncle, and a remarkable man whose legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
As we gather to honor his memory, we welcome all who knew him to join us in remembrance, reflection, and fellowship.
